NAS CDH
This NAS server supports RAID 0, 1 and 5. The unit does not configure a RAID automatically. The drives added to the RAID must not be currently configured as Mirror or Files devices.
RAID Configuration
RAID Group
- From the main Administration page, click on Device Manager.
- Click on the drive. Remeber the drive must be "no init" to add to a RAID.
- If the drive has previously been configured, return it to the "no init" state.
- Click on the drive.
- Click on the HD Initialize button.
- Select the No Init option.
- Click on OK.
- Click on OK when the popup windows ask "Are you sure?"
- The progress page will open. Click on OK to return to the Device Manager.
- Click on Configure RAID.
- Use the drop-down list to select the RAID level.
- Add drives to the RAID by selecting a drive from left window (Available HDs) and clicking on the Add button. The drive will be added to the RAID Group Members window.
- Click on the Setup button to configure the RAID.
Initialize the RAID
- From the Device Manager select the RAID-x group (RAID-A, RAID-B, etc)
- Click on RAID Initialize.
- Select the function of the RAID (Mirror or Files). A Mirror RAID is Read-Only; all data is created in the RAID by Imaging CD/DVDs. A Files RAID is Read-Write.
- Click on OK.
- A pop up windows asks "Are you sure?" Click on OK.
- A message page states RAID-x Init is Progress. Click on OK.
Create partitons
Partitons/subdirectories of the RAID are created using this process. Each partition may be published as an individual share.
- From the main Administration page, select Device Manager.
- Select the RAID.
- Click on the RAID Partition button.
- Select the Default Name or Volume Name option.
- Default. The partiton name will be FA00x.
- Volume. Enter the name in the field. Enter a comment if desired.
- Click on OK
- A message page states "Creating a partition on RAID-x". Click on OK.
There is no method for hiding the shares CACHE, CDROM, MIRROR and SYS. These are created by the system. It is possible to password protect the share, or limit number of connections to the share.
