Virtual DVD Server - CDH
Administration
Administration of the Virtual DVD Server is done through a web browser. The Administration page uses frames, and has eight sub-pages: Server Settings, Network Settings, Device Manager, Share Manager, User Manager, Event Log, Statistics, and Backup.
Open a frames-supported web browser (Netscape 3+ or Internet Explorere 3+) and enter the URL http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/admin/ where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address assigned to the unit.
If you exterience difficulty connecting to the unit.
Check the proxy server settings of the web browser. The proxy server must be disabled.
Are the workstation and the Virtual DVD server on the same subnet and in the same IP range?
Many aspects of the administration of the Virtual DVD Server are self-explanatory.
Server Settings
Through this section, the current server name(s) and firmware version as well as other details is exhibited. Other links allow the firmware to be upgraded, the unit safely stopped for shutdown, the browser administration pasword changed, and more.
Network Settings
Protocols for Windows, Novell, Macintosh, UNIX and FTP can be enabled or disabled from this section. Other aspects of the unit's network emulation are configured here, including remote authentication.
Device Manager
This section is used to manage the physical devices (DVD, hard drive) of the Virtual DVD Server. Also, through this page Imaged CDs are created and deleted.
Share Manager
All network shares are listed, and additional shares created, in this section. A share is a volume (or a group of volumes) which network users can be access. This sectin is also used to establish security.
User Manager
The User Manager section is used to maintain User access to the Virtual DVD Server. The main page of this section is the Local User page.
Event Log
System, Device, Security and Mirror events are logged on four separate pages. There is a "Clean Sweep" icon on the top left of each page to remove all previous log events.
Statistics
This section will present information about the various network clients attached to the Virtual DVD Server and the frequency with which those clients access each network share.
Backup
The Virtual DVD Sever supports tape backup. If your system has a tape drive you may use this section to configure the backup session.
