  3. Follow the screen prompts to complete the installation.
  4. The Premise Forms Launcher installation program will start during the Premise instalaltion program. Accept all defaults.
  5. When the installation process is complete, click on Return to Windows.

Adding Books to the Stand-Alone Installation
After the Premise program is installed locally, each CD-ROM disc (also known as a Book) must be added to the Premise library. The following steps outline this procedure

  1. Place each data CD disc in a drive bay. If Virtual CD-ROM software is in use, drag-and-drop to insert a Virtual disc into a Virtual drive bay.
  2. Launch Premise.
  3. At the Welcome screen select the "Install a Book" option.
  4. Select the "Install CD-ROM Book" option.
  5. Highlight the CD-ROM to be installed. Select all Premise data discs by selecting the first Premise title on the list and holding down the Shift and Arrow keys until all Premise titles are highlighted. You amy also click on the Install All button.
  6. Click on the "Install" button.

Network Installation

  1. Place the Premise program disc in a local CD-ROM drive.
  2. Run the setup.exe located on the disc.
  3. The installation program will display the default destination directory of C:\Westpub. To place the Premise program on a network drive, simply change the destination to a network directory (i.e.; F:\APPS)
  4. After the program files have been copied to this new network destination do NOT return to Windows. Instead, select the "Enhanced Network Utilities" option.
  5. The type of network installation directs the next choice.
    1. In a standard Peer-to-Peer network, the Setuploc option is selected. This will allow individual users to copy Premise files to the Winprs directory of their workstation. Only the library, communication and translator files remain as shared files. This means that most functions of Premise are running locally on each individual workstation.
      1. Each user must be instructed to run setuploc.exe located in the setuploc subdirectory of the network Winprs directory.
    2. Selecting the Setupnet option will allow users to run Premise directly from the network.
      1. Launch Premise and install all books. All users will share these.
      2. Users must have full access to the \Westpub\Public and \Westpub\Library directories.
      3. Each user must be instructed to run setupnet.exe located in the setupnet subdirectory of the network Winprs directory. When the user starts Premise a working directory C:\Windows\Westwin\Premise will be created on the workstation.

Adding Books to the Network Installation
If the Premise program is installed using the Setupnet network option, Books may be added to Premise in two ways: using the local installation discussed below, or by modifying the cdvolume.ini file.

  1. Each workstation must have Premise installed and be mapped to the "virtual" ,or shared, volume of the Virtual CD Server.
  2. Launch Premise.
  3. At the Welcome screen select the Install a Book option.
  4. Select the Install Magnetic Book option.
  5. Place a check in the Multiple Book Installation box. Use the Directories window to navigate to the virtual volume, and its subdirectory listings of Turbo-Cached/Imaged Premise CD data discs.
  6. Double-click on the first Premise disc to be added. An install.dat file should appear in the Files window.
  7. Double-click on the install.dat file. The title will be added to the Premise library.
  8. Repeat steps 5 through 7 for every disc.
