Online help
There is a link to the NAS server helpfile on every administration web page. This file is accessible in two different ways.
Remote Help. This requires a constant Internet connection. When the Help link is clicked the Microtest website is accessed to provide information.
Local Help. The helpfile is copied to a RAID and help information is accessed from the RAID.
Install Local Help
- Create a RAID.
- Add a folder named helpfile to the RAID.
- Insert the companion CD into a local (workstation) CD-ROM drive.
- Copy x:\help\eng.shtml (where x is the CD-ROm drive) to the helpfile folder.
- From the main administration page select System Settings.
- Select General System Information
- Place a check in the Enable Online Help box.
- Select Local Help.
- Enter the path to helpfile in the Help File Directory box. (ex: /RAID1/helpfile/)
Now if you select Help on any administration page, the helpfile for that page will open in a new window.
Securing the Helpfile
To provide greater security for the helpfile, you can create a share that points directly to the directory and then make the share attribute ReadOnly or Hidden. If firmware version 3.0 or higher is being used, the file itself can have security applied to it.
