Virtual CD Server - Axonix
Initial Configuration
The Virtual CD Server will broadcast the following audio codes as it boots up. The complete boot process takes approximately 2 minutes.
| The sound |
What it means |
| Two beeps (pause) One beep (pause) One beep (pause) |
This series of beeps indicates that the Virtual CD Server RAM passed a self-test. During the initial network install/boot this code may be broadcast twice, as the unit "learns" the network frame type. |
| One beep |
TheOrnetix CD-Vision software passed a self-test. |
| Two beeps (ascending tone) |
The Virtual CD Server boot is complete. |
NT
The initial configuration of the unit requires that you attch to the unit using the username Administrator and no password. NT requires users to logon to the network using the same username/password as they use to connect to the Virtual CD Server. You must logon to the general NT network using this default name. If the usernname Administrator does not exist or has a password, you must create/modify the account.
User authentication is provided by a loacl database. Remote authentication can be set up to access a PDC.

- Select CD-Vision Tools from the Programs menu.
- Select Set IP Address for Ornetix Servers.
- The Vision_xxxxx server will be displayed with a red line through the icon.
- Double-click on the icon.

Novell NetWare
The Virtual CD Server emulates a 3.12 server, and as such uses a bindery to provide local authentication. NDS integrated Remote Authentication is possible by loading an NLM on the Novell server.
The IPX protocol is used to communicate with the Virtual CD Server, so no further configuration of the unit is necessary.
Administer the Virtual CD Server
- Select CDVision Tools from the progrms menu.
- The Administrator window will list the Virtual CD Server (Vision_xxxxx).
- The Handshake icon to the left of the server name indicates if you are logged on to the unit.
- A red X between the hands means you are not logged on.
- Double-click on the server name.
- Enter the username, and password.
- Remember: the first time you log onto this server you must use the default username of Admin, Administrator, or Supervisor, with no password.
- Click on OK.
- Once you are logged onto the unit the Handshake icon will change to the hands touching (no red X), and any users attached to the server will be displayed, as well as the Server Type (which network protocols are supported by the server).
