User Accounts

Local Authentication
The Virtual CD Server contains a database/bindery for local user accounts. Security can be assigned to virtual volumes/shares using these accounts.

1. Start the CD-Vision Administrator program.
2. Logon to the Virtual CD Server.
3. Click on the Console button.
4. Click on the Users List tab.
5. Click on the Add button.
6. Enter the user account name into the field.
   1. You can change the home directory by entering a new path inthe field, or you can accept the system default.
   2. Assign administrative right to the accoutn by placing a check inthe Supervisor's Security Equivalent box.
7. Click on the Create button.
8. Enter a Full Name for the account if desired.
9. Click on the change Password button to create an account password.

A similar process is used to create Group accounts.

Remote Authentication

NT
A DOS based Setup Utility is used to enable or disable remote NDS and NT authentication for the Virtual CD Server. It is located on the CD-Vision Tools CD disc under the HyperLinQ directory. It is recommended that you run the Setup Utility only on a Windows 95 or Win3.X/DOS workstation and not on an NT workstation. Note that the other two setup programs for setting up the NDS and NT Agents onto a file server will run on an NT workstation. Please read all of these Technical Notes before proceeding.

To access the Parameter Information menu of the Setup Utility you must first select Change Setup in the first menu then F10 to accept and then select Protocol Information to open up a menu of protocols to modify.

If you encounter a TEMP error that prevents the Setup Utility from executing use these two commands at the DOS prompt: Set TMP=[enter] and Set Temp=[enter].

DO NOT use an NT workstation with Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed to setup users using CDAdministrator. Using an NT SP3 workstation to setup user accounts may result in a corrupt user account database that will prevent users from accessing the Virtual CD Server.

1. Open Network Neighborhood
2. Navigate to the Virtual CD Server.
3. Map a drive to the ADMIN share.
4. Download the remote setup utility.
5. Open the MS-DOS Prompt.
6. Change to the directory where the setup utility resides.
7. Enter the command SETUP /REMOTE=x: (where x is the mapped drive) at the prompt.
8. Select Change Setup and press F10.

10. Select Protocol Information
11. Select Microsoft Network
12. Modify the fields as necessary.
    1. Enter the Domain Name
    2. Enter Yes in Authenticate From Domain.
13. Press F10 to accept the changes.
14. Press Esc to return to the Parameters Information menu.
15. Select Create Setup to return to the DOS prompt.
16. Reboot the Virtual CD Server to implement the changes.

Novell

It is recommended that the NWVISION.NLM Security agent be installed on the Master Replica NetWare server.

The Security Agent installation must be run from a Windows95 or WindowsNT workstation that is logged into the NDS tree with Supervisor rights.

The NetWare server that the Security Agent is installed on must have at least the level of patches installed by Novell's LIBUPF.EXE (dated 7 January 1998)

1. At a workstation logged on to the NDS tree, place the CD-Vision Tools CD in the local CD-ROM drive.
2. Using My Computer, or the Windows Explorer, open the CD.
3. Open the Agents folder,.
4. Open the NDSAgent folder.
5. Double-click on SETUP.EXE.
   1. This copies NWVision.INI and NWVision.NLM to the System directory of the NetWare server, and creates a user (ORNETIX_OT_USER) with the same rights as the same person running the setup program.
6. At the server console prompt LOAD NWVISION.NLM.
   1. Use the administrator's username/password to complete the NLM loading.
7. At the workstation map a drive to the Admin volume of the Vision_xxxxx server.
8. At the DOS prompt of the workstation change to the local CD drive. Move to the HYPERLNQ directory and
9. Enter the command SETUP /REMOTE=x: (where x is the mapped drive) at the prompt.
10. Select Change Setup and press F10.
11. Select Parameter Information
12. Select Protocol Information
13. Select Novell NetWare.
14. Modify the fields as necessary.
    1. NDS Enabled: Yes
    2. NDS Tree: Enter the name of the NDS Tree in which the Vision_xxxxx server is to be inserted.
    3. NDS Context: Enter the position in the NDS Tree in which the Vision_xxxxx server volumes are to be inserted.
    4. Security Server Host: REMOTE: Enter the NetWare server name on which the Security Agent NLM has been installed.
15. Press F10 to accept the values entered.
16. Press Esc to return to the Parameter Information menu.
17. Select Create Setup to return to the DOS prompt.
18. Reboot the Virtual CD Server. As it reboots, and reads its configuration files, the NetWare server console will display each volume of the unit that is being added to the NDS tree.

NetWare Administrator now defines Users, Groups, and Volume Trustee Rights for the Virtual CD Server. The default Trustee Rights for the volumes, including TurboCached volumes, for all users (under the ORNETIX_OT_USER object) is Object rights: [SBCDR] and Property rights: All Rights.

The NDS Agent NLM should be loaded onto the NetWare server before the Virtual CD Server is powered on. If the Virtual CD Server is on during the NDS Agent installation then reboot the Virtual CD Server. Note that the NDS Agent setup only copies the agent to the Novell server. You must also manually or with the autoexec.ncf file load the NDS Agent onto the Novell server.
