What is RAID?
If you need a more detailed explanation of what RAID is and how it works click here.
Configure the first RAID array
Standard
If RAID is a new concept, or you are not sure how to proceed use the default Standard type. It will be possible to remove this group later, if needed.
- When prompted enter the type of RAID to create.
- Click on OK
- After a minute or two you will be prompted by a page that notifies you that the RAID has been created. Click on Continue.
- The system will configure the RAID group. Click on Continue to proceed while this is happening.
Custom
If you are a more advanced user and know where you want to partition the hard drives in the system, select the Custom option.
- Select Custom
- Select the type of RAID level from the drop down list. Click on Continue.
- Enter the name of the new RAID. Click on Continue.
- A screen will report the amount of storage space in the new RAID. Click on Continue.
- As the RAID is created, a screen will report that the new RAID is unavailable.
- The final RAID setup screen will display information about the RAID and will allow for alterations to the access level and network availability of the RAID share. Make any changes, as needed, and click on Save. The RAID configuration is complete.
