Backing Up the Data
The NAS server has three methods for data backup integrated into the unit: Tape Backup, Smart Mirror and the Backup Exec Agent.

Computer Associates ARCserve and Legato NetWorker can be used to backup the data, however these options are not integrated into the NAS server.

Tape Backup
This feature is uses a local tape drive to backup the data. The NAS server must have an internal tape drive for this option to work. If the NAS server does have an internal tape drive, this feature will allow the administrator to backup and restore the data to the unit.

Smart Mirror
This feature requires two FileZerver NAS server on the network. It allows an administrator to backup one unit to the other unit. The backup job can be scheduled.

Backup Exec Agent
VERITAS Backup Exec uses client agents to facilitate the backup of workstations and servers. The FileZerver NAS server incorporates the agent for Backup Exec into the unit.

The NAS server Backup Exec agent configuration exports the list of RAID groups, Shares, or both to the Backup Exec server. Configuration of the backup job is done on the Backup Exec server.
