Virtual CD/DVD Server - DiscZerver

LED Codes
There are 4 LEDs on the from panel of the Zerver CPU: Status, Network, 10/100 and Drive. The pattern in which these LEDs illuminate indicate the events occuring in the unit.
LED Color Activity Decsription
Status Red Solid During Power-On: Self-test
During Power-Off: Safe Halt. The power may be safely turned off.
  Amber Solid During Power-On: The Self-test is complete and the OS of the Virtual CD/DVD Server is loading
  Green Solid The system has finished the boot process, acquired an IP address, and is ready to use.
  Amber Blinking An IP address was not dynamically acquired. The default IP address of 10.10.10.10 is in effect.
  Green/Amber Rapid Blinking The firmware of the Zerver CPU is being updated.
Caveat Emptor. Disturbing, or stopping this operation may result in a total system crash
Network Amber Blinking Virtual CD/DVD Server is sending data to the network
  Green Blinking Other devices on the network are sending data.
10/100 Amber Solid Network speed is 10BaseT, or 10 Mbps
  Green Solid Network speed is 100BaseT, or 100 Mbps
  No Color No Light There is no network visible to the Virtual DVD Server.
Drive Green Blinking The IDE drive of the Virtual CD/DVD Server is reading or writing data.
  Red Blinking The SCSI drive of the Virtual CD/DVD Server is reading or writing data.

Reset to Defaults
The Virtual CD/DVD Server can be reset to its factory defaults fusing a web browser.

  1. From the main Administration page, select Reboot.
  2. Place a check in the Reset to manufacturing defaults box.
  3. Click on OK.
  4. The browser screen will refresh with information about the status of the reboot.

If the needs to be reset to factory defaults and you can't access the unit via the web browser, the unit can be rest using the Handy-Dandy-Reset-Pin (also known as an unbent paperclip).

  1. Unbend a large paperclip.
  2. Push the strightened end into th eround hole at the bottom of the grill located onthe front of the Zerver CPU. The hole is approximately below the Z in Zerver.
  3. Hold the paperclip in to push on the reset button inside.
  4. Watch the Status LED and release the pressure on the paperclip when the light reaches the reset level you want. The LED changes at four second intervals.
    1. Amber. Release the pressure on the paperclip to reboot the unit.
    2. Red. Release the pressure on the paperclip to perform a safe halt. The unit can be turned off at this point.
    3. Off. Release the pressure on the paperclip to return the unit to the factory defaults.
    4. Green. The unit has done nothing, and has returned to its normal state. Release the pressure on the paperclip.

Firmware Upgrade
The operating system of the Virtual CD/DVD Server is contained within the firmware. The process of upgrading the firmware is known as flashing. The Windows application ZerverView or an FTP client may be used to flash the unit.

  1. Download the latest version of the firmware.
  2. Unzip the download. The resulting file will have a .BIN extension.
  3. Open ZerverView software.
  4. Highlight the Virtual CD/DVD Server that is to be flashed.
  5. Click on the Reflash icon (lightning bolt) or select the Options menu, and the Reflash Firmware option.
  6. When prompted for the *.BIN file select the file downloaded from the Mocrotest web site and click on the Open button.
  7. Click on Yes to continue.
  8. A window will open that details the current version of the Virtual CD/DVD Server selected and the version of the update.
  9. Click on the Reflash button.
  10. When prompted, enter the Admin username and password
  11. The Status section of the screen will display the flash process.
