Virtual DVD Server - CDH

Set the IP Address
The unit requires an IP address for administration. The system is not configured to aquire an address through DHCP, so a static address must be set. After the initial configuration, the address can be aquired through DHCP, is desired.

LCD Panel
The Virtual DVD Server is fitted with a LCD panel that is used to configure basic system information. The following parameters may be modified with this panel: IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway IP, and Date/Time

  1. After the system powers up the LCD panel displays the words "System Ready".
  2. There are three buttons on the faceplate to the lower right of the LCD panel. Press on the right button. The LCD panel will display the query "Enter Config?"
  3. To enter the Configuration Mode press the middle button.
    1. The left and right buttons are uses to move the cusor, which flashes to indicate a selected digit.
    2. The middle button is used to increase the selected digit. Every press on the middle button will increase the value of the digit by one; 0 to 1, 1 to 2, 2 to 3, etc. The digit will cycle up to 9 and then back to 0.
    3. Press the left button to move the cursor to the left. Press on the right button to move the cursor to the right.
    4. Press on the right button to move to the cursor to the right (final) digit.
  4. The IP Address screen will appear. Make any changes necessary. When done press the right button to move the cusor to the rightmost (last) digit.
  5. Pressing on the right button again will advance the display to the next setting: Subnet Mask, Gateway IP, etc. Modify these as needed using the method outlined above.
  6. To leave the Configuration Mode press the right button until "Exit Config Mode?" appears, then press the middle button.
  7. When prompted to save the changes, use the middle button to select "Yes".
  8. When prompted to reboot the system, use the middle button to select "Yes".
  9. The unit will reboot using the new address configuration.

eConsole
This program can be used to manage the Virtual DVD Server. It allows you to configure the server parameters, and to remotely load CD/DVD imaged onto the Virtual DVD Server. In addition, files and folders may be collected together and remotely imaged to the unit, where they will appear as an Imaged CD.

The program runs from a Win9x/ME/NT4/2000 workstation.

Install eConsole

  1. Download the eConsole utility.
  2. Unzip the download.
  3. Double-click on setup.exe.
  4. The welcome screen appears. Click on Next.
  5. Accept the destination directory, or change the directory by using the Browse button. Click on Next.
  6. Accept the entry into the Programs menu. Click on Next.
  7. The configuration settings screen appears. Click on Next.
  8. The program will install.
  9. Click on Finish to close the installer.

Configure the Virtual DVD Server parameters

  1. Start eConsole.
    1. If the Windows Explorer opens, close it.
  2. If the Wizard opens, select Server Setup.
  3. If the Wizard did not open, click on the Quick Server Setup icon. The icon is interlocking yellow gears.
  4. Click on Next.
  5. Select the Virtual DVD Server from the list.
  6. Click on Next.
  7. Select "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" or "Assign an IP Address Manually".
    1. Automatic. You must select the method(s) used to obtain the IP address. DHCP, BOOTP, and RARP may be used for dynamic IP.
    2. Manual. You must enter the static IP ddress and Subnet Mask for the Virtual DVD Server. The Gateway IP should be entered if applicable.
  8. Click on Next
  9. The name of the unit, the Workgroup/Domain and the Comment (if any) can be changed.
  10. Click on Next.
  11. To establish a password for the browser based administration of the Virtual DVD Server, place a check in the "Change Administration Password" box. Enter the password in the field.
  12. Click on OK.
  13. When prompted click on Yes to reboot the server.
  14. Click on OK to close the "Setup Configuration Successful" window.
  15. The unit will reboot, using the new configuration parameters.
