CDServ 7

Web Browser Administration
The administration web pages require a Frames-enabled browser (Netscape Navigator3+ or Internet Explorer3+).

  1. Open the web browser.
  2. Enter the IP addres of the CDServ7 with the addition on /admin at the end of the address. For example: If the IP address of the unit is 192.168.1.100, then the URL is http://192.168.1.100/admin.
    1. If you are using a browser which does not support frames, then the addition should be changed to /adminnoframe. For example, http://192.168.1.100/adminnoframe.
  3. You will be prompted to enter your user name and password.
  4. Enter the user name as Admin and use the password that was created in the initial setupo. If you have not changed the password the default is cdserv.
  5. The left frame will change to present a list of management items.

The CDServ7 Adminisration page has two frames. The left frame is the menu of options for administration. When you click on the menu item, the corresponding page will appear on the right frame. The administrative functions are self-explanatory and easy to follow.

Firmware upgrade

The CDServ7 can be upgraded through a web browser that supports "File Upload" functions, such as Netscape Navigator 3+ and Internet Explorer 3+

  1. Open the Administration web page.
  2. Click on the Firmware Upgrade link.
  3. Click on OK to confirm that you want to enter the upgrade mode. This mode will stop the normal function of CDServ7 and the administrator will be the only one who has the access to the unit.
  4. CDServ7 will automatically restart after the firmware upgrade process completes.

Windows Environment Issues
Configure CD-Serv from a Different Subnet
If users are on the other side of a router from the CDServ7, they will not be able to access the unit. To correct this issue modify the LMHOSTS file of the Windows computer.

  1. Open the LMHOSTS file.
    1. This file is normally in the main windows system directory ( C:\Windows for Windows 9x/ME; C:\WindowsNT for Windows NT. For DOS/Windows 3.x, the file should be located with the Microsoft Network Client; usually C:\NET.
    2. If you can't find the file, use Notepad or a text editor to create one.
  2. Edit the file.
    1. The general format of the entry is: <IPAddress> <ComputerName> #PRE. Add an entry for the CDServ7. For example, an CDServ7 named CDServer1 with an IP Address of 192.168.1.100 is added with this line: 192.168.1.100 CDServer1 #PRE

Windows for Workgroups
Windows for Workgroups requires the option of "LMHOSTS Lookup" in the Microsoft TCP/IP driver setup for the computer to recognize, and use, the file the next time the computer boots.
