Jumpers
If the Virtual DVD Server need to be reset to factory defaults and you can't access the unit via the web browser, the unit can be rest using jumpers. Jumpers are small plastic connectors with metal contacts inside. These are placed over a pair of pins on a computer circuit board, completing a circuit.
- To expose the jumpers on the Virtual DVD Server board you must open the case of the unit.
- The CPU unit must be removed from the case.
- It is held in place with four screws. Caveat Emptor. Do not lose these screws. They are of a special short length. Larger screws can touch the mainboard and cause an electrical short.
- Remove the power and data cable connections.
- Remove the upper cover of the CPU to expose the mainboard.
- Reconnect the CPU to the system power supply.
- Place a jumper of the pins marked J3. They approximately in the middle of the mainboard.
- Turn on the unit.
- Wait one minute and the turn the power off.
- Remove the jumper.
- Return the Virtual DVD Server to its original state.
Resetting the system doesn't erase the hard drives of the Virtual DVD Server. It does do the following things:
The web administration password is cleared.
The IP address is 192.168.1.1
The NCP protocol is enabled.
DHCP, RARP, and BOOTP are disabled.
The Workgroup/Domain is Workgroup.
The unit returns to its default name (SMBxxxxxxx, ANWxxxxxxxx, etc)
Physical share names are CD1 through CD8.
